A Cheshire Cat, a clock, and a little creative detective work!

One of my repeat customers asked if I could create a Cheshire Cat wreath for her, and I couldn't resist the challenge!

We started with an image I found on a piece of jewelry in an Etsy shop. First, I had to research the copyright and trademark questions to make sure we could use the artwork.

Then came getting the image into the right format, having a supplier create a custom sign, and tracking down a wood shop that could make the clock frame I needed.

And somewhere along the way, all those flowers, ribbons, and little details came together into this!

It was one of the most enjoyable custom projects I've worked on. Not because it was easy, but because figuring it all out was half the fun!

Now I'm curious. If you could dream up a wreath inspired by a favorite storybook character, who would you choose?

This custom order has a little twist to its story!

One of my repeat customers fell in love with a gingerbread nutcracker swag I'd created for another customer and asked if I could make something similar just for her.

I couldn't duplicate the original, but with a little gingerbread, plenty of peppermint candy, and some Christmas bits and bobs, her very own version came together.

She loved it when she picked it up!

But here's the sweet part. She decided to give it to her sister as a surprise.

And now she's asked me to make another one for herself!

I love creating something special for a customer, but I love it even more when it ends up making someone else smile.

Do you have a Christmas decoration you look forward to bringing out every year?

Maybe it's something you've treasured for decades, or something you discovered just last Christmas.

I think those are the best decorations. Not necessarily the biggest or fanciest, but the ones that make you smile when you see them again.

That's the feeling I hope to capture in the Christmas wreaths I create.

Who says a wreath has to hang on the front door? Not me!

A wreath can bring a little seasonal personality to an entryway wall, above a fireplace mantel, or even into the kitchen.

And sometimes, changing just one thing is all it takes to make a room feel refreshed for the season.

No redecorating required, unless you're really in the mood to have at it!

Remember when I asked whether a pheasant belonged in a centerpiece? Well, here he is!

This one took me a little outside my comfort zone. I wanted something warm and welcoming for fall, but a bit different from the centerpieces I usually create.

Somewhere between the autumn florals, gold accents, and that rather distinguished pheasant, it all came together!

And just in time for Thanksgiving decorating.

I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again: ribbon is often the inspiration for one of my wreaths! In this case, that cute Christmas tree ribbon has my mind churning!

I've been looking for just the right project for it, and when I found this retro Santa sign, things started falling into place.

The colors, patterns, and textures of ribbon can set the personality of an entire wreath before I've added a single thing.

Now to see whether the finished wreath looks anything like the one in my head!

One thing I've learned from selling wreaths online is that size can be surprisingly tricky!

I've always included the dimensions in my Etsy listings, but I've learned that it's not always easy to picture what those measurements will look like on your own door.

So now I also include a graphic showing each piece, photographed on my exterior door, with the approximate finished width and height, along with its depth.

And there's one thing I can't encourage enough: measure the space where you plan to hang it!

A wreath can look absolutely beautiful in a photograph, but if it's too wide for your entryway or too deep for your storm door, it's not going to be the right fit.

I'd much rather help you choose something you'll love and have room to enjoy.

One of the little pleasures of having an Etsy shop? The cha-ching! Whenever an order comes in, the Etsy app makes a sound just like an old-fashioned cash register.

I've been fortunate to have heard it plenty of times over the years, but I can tell you one thing: that sound NEVER, EVER gets old!

Today, it was the sound of these centerpieces finding new homes.
