Isaiah 55

1-5: “…everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear and come to Me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, My steadfast, merciful love for David. Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. Behold, you shall call nations that you know not, and nations that knew you not will run to you, because of the Lord your God…the Holy One of Israel, for He has glorified you.”

Jesus is the “water” and the “wine and milk” that we may eat and drink without payment. He is the extravagant that we should delight in and consume in excess. We often replace the goodness and extravagance of God with things that are not good for us, because we seek satisfaction misguidedly from things that provide only a temporary and fleeting pleasure. That temporary pleasure ultimately leads to disappointment when it does inevitably fade. But God doesn’t just satisfy. He creates enjoyment within us because the pleasure that comes from being satisfied in Him never fades. So don’t settle for deceitful satisfactions, or things that only provide a temporary relief, but instead immerse yourself in more of Jesus. Put forth all of your effort, in loving excitement to get more of Him, in every way possible.

Jesus is the extravagant. He is the delicacy, the sweetness, the “more.” What He has is priceless, and He gives it without cost. He doesn’t just sustain your basic needs, He upgrades them! He is the bread that fills. He is the honey that enhances the taste, and makes it more pleasurable. He is the wine and water that not only quench your thirst, but delights your senses. He is the choice wine that elevates your status, and broadcasts your worth.

When light shines on honey, it pulls the shadow towards the light source, and the light shines through and out of the honey, as if there was no object blocking the light at all. Jesus wants to make you the honey. He wants you to absorb His light so completely, that there is no blockage of His light shining out of you. He wants to use you to bring His sweetness to the world, and make the bland delightful again. Allow Him to satiate you, so that He can use you to satiate the world.

The process of acquiring honey can be dangerous at times, but don’t fear the process. He’s already gotten the honey. You need only take and eat.

The Good Soil

Matthew 13: 3-8/19-23: “…A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose, they were scorched; and since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell upon thorns, and the thorns grew and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear.”

“When one hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the Evil One comes and snatches away what is sown in his heart; this is what was sown along the path. As for what was sown on the rocky ground, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation and persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the delight in riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. As for what was sown on good soil, this is he who hears the word and understands it; he indeed bears fruit, and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

In order for a sunflower to grow, it must be planted in good soil. The roots grow deep, and seek out the sources of water from within the ground. The flowers themselves grow towards the sun, and even follow it as it moves across the sky. Each flowerhead can measure more than 12” in diameter, and can contain up to 2,000 seeds.

God says you are the sunflower! He delights in your beauty! You are growing tall, and strong, and radiant in His light. Your roots have run deep and are drinking freely from the source of living water, which is Jesus Himself! He says you have tapped into the source of living water, and it is growing you. And as the sunflower always follows the sun, so you must always follow the Son. Jesus is the light of the world, and if you remain in His light, you will flourish. Follow where He leads, you can trust Him. The more you stand directly in His light, the more vibrant you will be. You will reflect His light. It will seem to glow from within you, and people will notice it! A world that is starving for Jesus will see His light in you, and it will draw them in. People you meet will be changed just from having seen you, because of the brightness of the Light within you. Just in the same way as we are changed from just having been in the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist! You are a walking monstrance! The seeds that come from you are Jesus! They are True food for this starving world. And just by your presence, you are feeding them. So continue to follow the Light! Stay with Him, wherever He leads. And continue to shine His light to all the world around you! And hear Him say, “well done, My good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Lord!”

The Hem of His Garment

Mark 5:25-34: “And there was a woman who had had a blood flow for 12 years, and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse. She had heard the reports about Jesus, and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” And immediately the hemorrhage ceased; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone forth from him, immediately turned about in the crowd, and said, “Who touched my garments?” And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’” And he looked around to see who had done it. But the woman, knowing what had been done to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”

Faith! Have faith and be healed! Move mountains! Uproot the fig tree! Nothing is impossible for God! These stories aren’t just for us to learn about Jesus from long ago. They are every bit as true now as they were then. Every single thing that was available to the disciples and crowds are available to us right now! The blind gain their sight, the deaf hear, the crippled walk, the mute speak, the dead are raised to life! Every disease—no matter what stage, can be healed in the name of Jesus! Have faith in the power of His name! Have faith in His love for you! This is the only place in the whole Bible where Jesus calls someone “Daughter.” Hear Him speaking that to you. “Daughter. You are My beloved daughter! There is nothing that I wouldn’t do for you. You are so special to me! You are important. You are My everything! I love you.” Let the Father love you. Don’t be afraid to open your heart to Him. Just have faith.

The opal vase represents the “Pearl of Great Price.” And that represents the Kingdom of Heaven, and all that is our inheritance. We are sons and daughters of the King! And so anything that was for Jesus, is also for us! Take hold of your inheritance, and value it above all else.

Violet lilacs represent spirituality, or something that “belongs to the church.” Magenta lilacs represent love and passion. And lilac color, (light purple) represent a first love. God wants you to make Him your first love. He wants you to be passionate for Him, and to belong more fully to Him. Your love is a very fragrant and pleasing smell to the Father! The aroma of your love for Him fills all of Heaven with the sweet scent of lilacs.

The pear represents joy and gladness and clarity. The orange represents hope and new life. The pomegranate represents the seeds of faith that God will cultivate in you, and then use you to sow to others. God is saying that all these are for you. Joy, gladness, clarity, hope, new life, and faith! God provides the choicest fruits for His beloved! He says, “The season is now! The fruits are ripe and have already been picked for you.”

The red wall and white cloth represent the blood of Christ that will wash over and cleanse you to be robed in pure, white garments. So reach out and touch the hem of His garment! Be not afraid!

The crucifix is the one designed by St. John Paul II, whose motto in life was “Totus Tuus.” Meaning “Totally Yours.” God wants you to belong totally to Him! The best way to accomplish that is to be consecrated to Our Blessed Mother. It is her vocation to bring us closer to her Son. This also signifies that St. John Paul II has a special love for you, and bond with you. He has chosen to keep you in his prayers. He will help you. Don’t be afraid to talk with him. He and Our Blessed Mother are watching over you and are committed to draw you even closer to Jesus! Alleluia!
