Sweater Weather, New Stitches, and Fresh Finds at the Shop
There is something purely magical about the first real chill in the air. Sweater weather has officially arrived, and around here, that means hot c***r, cozy layers, and an irresistible urge to create.
If youโve stopped by Cold Stream Crafts recently, you might have noticed some wonderful new energy in the space. Having extra hands on staff at the shop has been an absolute game-changerโit keeps the shelves stocked and welcoming, and it has graciously freed up my schedule to spend more dedicated time back in my home studio behind the sewing machine.
For a long time, yarn has taken center stage here. And while our fiber arts community is truly incredibleโthe more makers, the merrier!โthe crochet world has grown wonderfully crowded and saturated over the last couple of years. Iโm definitely not hanging up my hooks entirely; with winter right around the corner, youโll still find plenty of cozy, handmade crochet staples in the shop, especially warm beanies, cowls, and scarves to keep the cold at bay.
At the same time, Iโve dusted off my sewing machine and rediscovered the joy of working with needle and thread. Stepping into sewing opens up so many exciting avenues for the shop:
Upcycled Clothing: Giving quality, pre-loved denim and vintage textiles a fresh lease on life with unique patches, reworked silhouettes, and handcrafted detailing.
Handcrafted Bags: Practical, everyday project totes, zippered notions pouches, and crossbody bags made with durable, beautiful fabrics.
Home Decor: Small-batch quilted accents, seasonal hanging pieces, and cozy accents that bring handmade warmth to any nook.
Pivoting into new mediums is invigorating, but my favorite part of running this shop has always been the conversation with all of you. What kinds of sewn and upcycled goods would you love to see on our tables this season? Whether itโs everyday tote bags with sturdy pockets, statement upcycled jackets, specific styles of pouches, or holiday home accents, tell me what inspires you. Leave a note in the comments, send an email, or chat with us next time you visit the stall.
