Woke up early this morning after a late show last night and was yawning, drinking my mushroom tea which did nothing to wake me tf up. Headed to my normal CrossFit class at noon despite feeling wiped. My sarcastic buddies there always put me in a great mood.
Today was One-Rep Max Deadlift, and I was determined just to lift and not care I was putting in pitiful numbers, knowing I was tired all I could hope was just to 'show up'. Lifted w my cutie friend Joey since we lift similar weights and I just kept climbing. I bested my 2020 Personal Best of 315 and hit 340lbs. I've barely lifted more than 305 in the last few years...like WTH?!
Then I did the workout:
2 Rounds with 12 min time cap
400 m run
25 Hand release Push-Ups
25 Deadlifts at 185lb.
I finished within a minute of the 'big daddies' in the gym that lift in the 400-500lb Deadlift zone. I mean, that felt great.
I always try to make these things life lessons for myself. I learned that sometimes we shouldn't underestimate what we are capable of. Best to just go and give things a try. Ive learned this many times and felt like it was another great reinforcement. Sometimes, when we are tired/not feeling it, it can be good to do something, and other times you just say 'F It' and go for it full tilt. Why The heck not?!
It also reinforced how lovely it is to be surrounded by great people with great energy. The Noon class at my gym is a cast of characters that has mostly remained the same in my year since I moved in and made it my home gym. The level of professionalism is only matched by the level of utter stupidity and humor we all use to make each other laugh. It truly is the best hour of my day. Thanks
