English herb garden inspiro at Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor. Some of these I've heard of and am excited to plant and try myself, like soapwort. Others are new to me like Costmary - - -Also known as: Bible Leaf (historically used as a fragrant bookmark in Bibles)Alecost (used to flavor ale before hops became standard)Balsam WeedMint Geranium

Culinary: Young spring leaves were historically used in salads, as a potherb, or to flavor beverages and beers.Medicinal: Traditionally used in salves or hot steam vapors to soothe skin scrapes, minor burns, insect stings, and chest congestion.Aromatic: Dried leaves are popular in potpourris and sachets because their strong scent helps repel moths and insects.

This is just a quick one showing how I’m working with these boxwoods for one of my clients. It’s great to see improvement over time. And this is exactly the sort of thing that sets a gardening service apart from landscape service.

🪴Container gardening can be difficult for my clients and I’m happy to help! It’s an excellent way to bring beauty right up to your doorstep and by selecting the right plants they can come back year after year.

⭐️Pro tip: when container plants die after a few years it is most likely two things- 1) they need to be divided because they’ve become root bound - 2) the soil needs to be replaced bc the plant has used all the nutrients. Fertilizing is an option but must be done very carefully to not burn the plants.

☀️Just another day not in an office… and loving every second of it.

Starting a business lacks the stability of a 9-5, but that’s also what makes it exciting, and fortifying.
