In this Grosse Pointe Farms home, the original kitchen didn’t have space for a full-size refrigerator and lacked usable prep space. We reworked the layout with two L-shaped countertop runs and turned the former breakfast nook into a walk-in pantry that now houses the refrigerator, microwave, and everyday storage.

The kitchen was completely gutted, but the new design feels right at home with the original character of this 1920s house. Honed granite countertops with subtle veining, unlacquered brass bin pulls, and beadboard at the sink wall add vintage touches and personality. We designed a custom curved backsplash detail at the range and sink to soften the contrast and give the space a tailored feel. Shallow tall pantries and open shelving keep everything within reach, and heated tile floors make the space comfortable year-round.

Creamy white cabinetry sets a soft, timeless foundation, paired with a rustic stone backsplash that adds texture and depth. A gently curved wood hood, finished to match the cabinets, brings a subtle architectural moment without overpowering the space. Behind the beauty is thoughtful storage everywhere: a dedicated spice drawer right where you cook, roll-out trash and recycling tucked neatly away, vertical tray dividers for boards and pans, and deep drawers designed for real, everyday cooking.

This 1952 Huntington Woods bungalow once had a peninsula jutting into the space, cutting off the flow and making entertaining nearly impossible. The homeowners love to cook and gather with friends, so creating a space that felt connected and welcoming was key.

By removing the peninsula and adding a run of shallow pantries opposite the cooktop, the new layout feels more open while also adding valuable storage. The countertop now wraps the corner into a built-in banquette where the couple can sit with guests just off the kitchen, keeping everyone part of the conversation.

The cabinetry is designed for real, everyday cooking, with thoughtful details like angled utensil dividers, pegs for dishes and pans, a spice pullout, and tray dividers above the oven. Panel-ready appliances keep the space streamlined, allowing the materials to take center stage. The combination of moody blue base cabinets, white oak uppers, and brushed pewter hardware gives the kitchen a grounded, confident feel that fits the home’s character and the way the couple loves to live.

A little slice of the Amalfi coast at home 🌊🍋 Creamy cabinets, a navy island, and brass details come together in a way that feels both timeless and relaxed, like lingering over a long lunch with a sea view. We improved both the layout and function of this kitchen by removing an angled peninsula and poorly-designed pantry, opening up the kitchen to the adjacent living area, and adding an island with barstool seating. Swipe for before photos and see if you can spot our favorite new four-legged friend!

This kitchen is part of a new addition to a midcentury Ann Arbor home. The clients described their style as midcentury modest and they love warm wood tones, simple slab cabinetry, with pops of color and character. We carried those ideas into the design with clean lines, open shelving, and thoughtful details. The built-in bench even has a drawer for each family member’s things, keeping the space as functional as it is inviting.

This mid-century addition gave our clients a primary bathroom that feels bright and grounded all at once. The skylight floods the space with natural light, while slab maple cabinetry warms things up and stays true to the home’s original character. Clean lines, timeless materials, and thoughtful storage make this bathroom as functional as it is beautiful. We even sized the height of the linen cabinet to allow room for plants to perch on top and soak up the sunshine.

One drawback to buying a beautiful 100 year old farmhouse? It only had one bathroom! We turned a small unused closet off of the kitchen into a half bathroom. Sometimes the smallest rooms take the longest to design, and this one was a challenge! We changed the location of the door to allow a small, wall-hung corner sink, used a mirror that pivots on an angle, and used a wall-hung toilet to save space. Swipe to see the before photo and rendering to truly appreciate this transformation.
