Retail Garden Center and Wholesale grower Strader’s Garden Centers (Strader’s) has been serving Central Ohio for over 60 years.

Strader’s was founded in 1951 by Jack and Ruth Strader. Strader’s grew from one location to many. Strader’s now has 6 retail stores to serve Central Ohio. King Ave is our oldest and smallest store. Riverside Dr is our main store with a full acre greenhouse (yes an acre!) Shawnee Hills (Powell) came next and then Grove City. Our East Broad St and West Broad St locations round out the retail side. Strader’s grows much of what we sell. We have 3 wholesale growing operations to supply our annuals, vegetables, herbs, perennials and landscape plants. To supply our nurseries with a full line of trees and shrubs, we bring in quality plant material from other suppliers. We also deliver and install landscape plants. Strader’s is still locally owned and operated by the Strader’s family. Our stores have an amazing assortment of houseplants with new shipments weekly. Strader’s carries a full line of soil, mulch, fertilizer, tools (we service what we sell), mowers, grills, birding supplies, garden and seasonal décor items. Visit a Strader’s during the holiday season for the freshest cut trees, wreaths, greens and roping. Our poinsettias are second to none and grown by us. We are open year round and we truly do change with the weather. We take pride in our knowledgeable and service oriented Strader’s team members and look forward to seeing you in one of our stores soon!

Fall coloration on white pines happens every fall but in some years it is more noticeable. The inner needles yellow and drop off. This can also occur on rhododendrons and other evergreen shrubs. This is normal for this time of year and is not a cause for concern. If you have questions about the health of your trees or shrubs, we are always here to help!

You do not need to cut back every perennial this fall! Healthy ornamental grasses and seed heads provide food for birds, shelter for pollinators, and beautiful winter interest in the landscape.

The best seed for fall wild bird feeding should be loaded with protein and fat to help birds make it through the long winter. For most birds, sunflower seed, peanut hearts, and safflower are an excellent choice.
