'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, except for my spouse.
The stockings weren’t hung, (the chimneys in despair),
She hopes that the Handyman soon would be there
The children were nestled, all snug in their beds,
Shivering and shaking with toques on their heads
And mamma in her kerchief and I in my coat,
Wishing I had the tools in a well organized tote.
When out on the driveway, there arose such a clatter,
I saw through my window, an aluminum stepladder.
With tools on his pouch, and a screwdriver in hand
I suddenly knew it was our Handyman!
The moon on the breast of new fallen snow,
I shuddered to saw it was even 30 below!🥶
Despite the cold air, he arrived and was here.
So grateful for the Handyman, I almost shed a tear.
With a branded clean shirt, he was lively and quick,
Our furnace came back to life when that switch made a flick!
I opened the door as it creaked, and stopped with a thud.
He quickly adjusted a hinge and fixed the hole with some mud!
“If it’s leaking or needs patching, or even has come loose,
Or dripping, or clogging, or is worn and of no use,
Booking the time for fix is as easy as 1-2-3
Even send a few pics. and it’ll be easy for me!
I'll come upon knocking and do all that's needed
And leave with you feeling of that quality has exceeded!
With tools in hand, through the tasks he did fly,
He checked off the list, every item low and high.
So up on the housetop with the ladder he flew,
With a bundle of shingles, cause’ they’ll do that too!
With a truck full of tools and a handyman prepared,
There’s much he can fix and it shall be repaired!
With a wink of his eye and a twist of the driver,
he much reminded me of that T.V. Show MacGyver.
And with the stroke of the brush, and a sand of some paper,
He fixed the wall patch with the precision of a taper.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
Tightened the drip from the tap that almost drove us berserk!
The last task to do was what left us in awe,
The jobsite was left clean, couldn’t believe what we saw!
So with a farewell good bye and a tip of his hat.
The garbage was loaded and he was off in a snap.
From his truck he did holler as he drove out of sight,
“MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!”
