🌿 A Little Piece of My Garden

There’s something special about adding a water feature to a garden.

I recently added this stone water feature to my own garden. The way it catches the dappled light has completely changed this little space.

As a landscape designer, I spend so much time creating gardens for other people. It’s pretty special to slow down and create something just for my own garden. 🤍

If you're planning an outdoor project and want to understand the full potential of your property, its important to explore concepts. This is a big part of my design process.

For this project, the homeowners knew they wanted a pool but weren't sure where it belonged on-site. Rather than settling on the first idea, I developed 3 very different layout concepts, each offering a different way the space functions.

A thoughtfully planned outdoor space doesn't just enhance a home-- it creates a destination.

If you live along the tournament course at Muirfield Village, a fabulous backyard is a must.

With thousands of spectators strolling the course during Memorial Tournament week. This property was designed to be enjoyed from every angle. If you’re walking the tournament, you might just catch a glimpse of this newly completed outdoor living space.

Whether relaxing on the upper-level viewing terrace or enjoying a drink at the walkout basement patio, there are plenty of front row seats to the action. Best of all we wrapped up this project just in time for the owners to host and celebrate tournament week in style.

PHOTOS FROM MY GARDEN—- Even as a landscape designer, I have to remind myself sometimes to stop working in the garden long enough to actually enjoy it. 🌿

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the endless list — weeding, mulching, trimming, deadheading, watering… there is always something that “needs” done in the yard.

Lately, I’ve been making it a point to simply stroll through the garden and focus on the little things instead — the texture of a fern unfurling, the movement of ornamental grasses in the breeze, the layering of foliage, a favorite view from across the yard, or the way evening light hits the plants just right.

A garden doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is slow down long enough to appreciate what you’ve already created. ✨
