Our work in Licking County, OH, speaks strongly to our commitment to honoring the past while building a stronger future. One noteworthy project was our feasibility study for the Robbins Hunter Museum, an 1842 historic home reflecting generations of local history and philanthropy, as well as our first archaeological survey for the Ohio Department of Transportation cultural resources project in 1998.

Accessibility matters.

From 1998-99, Hardlines Design Company completed ADA improvements to a group home in Newark for the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (now Ohio Department of Behavioral Health). Updates included creating an accessible bedroom and bathroom and adding a front entrance ramp with a deck with seating to better serve residents and guests.

We love good news!

Last year, Hardlines Design Company developed a cost estimate and detailed spreadsheet for improvements at the Buckingham Meeting House, capturing the full wish list from the Library & Archives director at the Licking County Historical Society. Using this cost estimate, a $250,000 state grant was secured.

In partnership with Karpinski Engineering, this wish list will become reality!

In 1998, HDC was commissioned by the Licking County Historical Society to complete a Conservation Assessment Program survey of the Sherwood Davidson House. Today, the site is known as Veteran’s Park, as a lasting tribute to the Newark men and women who served and gave their lives for their country.

: HDC Architect Vivian Majtenyi, who worked on the project as one of her first assignments, remembers being creeped out by the preserved grave sites in the basement!
