I didn’t really get pics of this latest project. By putting in the extreme focus, I didn’t think about pics until I was not in position to get good ones. Hoping to have some from the home owner once furniture is back in place.
This project was random width 2, 3, 4, & 5” Hickory. This was a difficult project as the husband and wife had two different ideas on what rustic or character boards they wanted in their floor. When he had a pile of boards he didn’t like, she came home and put a bunch back in.
One of the hardest things in my 25 years is to give that customer confidence in the quality of your materials and craftsmanship. It can never be taken for granted even if the customer is a referral from another long satisfied customer. Unfortunately these customers cause many issues, wasted time, and frustration. By picking apart what in nature are absolutely unique and beautiful boards that have the ability to make the whole room spectacular and stunning. What they end up with to me is something closer to a plastic man made floor. This is what bothers me about laminates and luxury vinyl tile made to look like wood. Every other or every 3rd panel is printed the same.
Much like our society today if I might say. If we quit celebrating the uniqueness and skills of individuals, and all we focus on are the ones who do the exact same thing as someone else, our whole society loses it’s Luster! (Notice I didn’t use the over used buzz word vibrant) 😀
Needless to say, the floor turned out beautiful and the customer is satisfied with the work, and we move on to the next challenge! A lady would like me to distress her floors! 🙄
