Tips and Tricks to Protect Your Home During Extreme Cold ❄️
With dangerously low temperatures moving in, a little preparation can help keep your home safe and running smoothly. Here are a few simple steps to protect your plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems during the deep freeze.
🔧 Plumbing
Let faucets drip, especially those on exterior walls, to help prevent frozen pipes.
Open cabinet doors under sinks so warm air can reach exposed plumbing.
Disconnect hoses and make sure outdoor spigots are shut off or covered.
Know where your main water shutoff is in case a pipe freezes or bursts.
🔥 HVAC
Replace or clean your furnace filter so your system can work efficiently in extreme cold.
Keep vents open and clear to allow proper airflow.
