Good winter afternoon! Here's an interesting idea for sowing seeds in winter, not using plastic. You might want to use less plastic in your life regarding your food and drink, especially if you're concerned about microplastics in your foods.

On Sat Nov 1st from 9am-noon we'll prepare the garden for winter by tearing out raised beds and preparing the soil for a new garden design next growing season.
I worked at the garden on Saturday , tearing out a few of the raised beds with a crowbar , to see what it looks like and how we can be prepared for Nov 1st. I've added some photos.

Looks like we'll need the following tools and supplies:
Cardboard- we have some but could use more
Wheelbarrows - if you have one, please label it with your name and bring it
Shovels - please label and bring them
Rakes- sturdy ones, not for raking leaves- don't forget to label
Drills to unscrew any hard to bust up raised beds
Volunteers

Tasks that will need to happen that day:
pulling out old plants and weeding beds
Tearing out raised beds
raking and leveling out the beds
laying down cardboard
bringing over compost
placing old wood over the cardboard to make a new pathway.

I'll plan on having some snacks and we'll fill up a cooler with ice water.
I'll be sending out details to volunteers tomorrow afternoon.
