If you have a muscadine vine that isn't producing any grapes, you probably have a variety that only bears female flowers.
Plant a self-fertile variety (that has both male and female flowering parts) nearby for pollination and your old vine will start producing fruit.
We have over 15 varieties of self-fertile varieties to choose from. Check it out at www.bottomsnursery.com

Muscadine grape seeds have as much (and even more) nutritional value than the sweet pulp itself. The seeds are beneficial for cancer prevention, cardiovascular health, and antioxidants- followed by the skin, then the pulp.

When your bare root fruit trees arrive, soak the roots in a tub of water for a few hours to give them a good drink before planting.

In 1976, Edward and Jane Bottoms started propagating muscadines along with azaleas and other ornamentals and thus began Bottoms Nursery. Since that time there has been millions of plants produced for sale. Edward’s desire was to build a business known for quality that could one day perhaps be run by the future generations of his family.
The nursery has had several changes over the years to get to where it is today. In 1988, Owens Vineyard’s blueberry and muscadine production was purchased by Bottoms. From that point, Bottoms began to grow more fruit bearing plants. In 2003 Bottoms decided to get completely out of the ornamental business and focus solely on small fruits so that customers could be better served.
Over the years, Bottoms Nursery has sold plants to mail order companies, vineyards, u pick operations, garden centers, and homeowners. Many of whom are currently customers and have been since the beginning.
In 2009 Edward’s eldest son Matt took over the reins of the business and is continuing to carry on the tradition of quality plants for fruit growers all over the country.
Thank you again for checking out Bottoms Nursery. We hope that we can be of assistance to you in your fruit production.
