My husband and I paid off almost $80,000 in consumer debt in two years on one income. That was 15 years ago and we have stayed debt-free, not in small part two the most excellent of budgeting tools, YNAB. I randomly decided to check the connection again this morning, and it worked! Just goes to show you, just because things have been one way for a long time, doesn’t mean that’s how they always need to be. You have to be willing to wait.

Do you buy new clothes before you travel? If yes, what is the motivation behind it?

Because I like to have the ability to change my mind, I often pack with a "palette" in mind. If I put together existing palette-coordinated outfits and need to supplement, I find travel is a good motivator. I mean, I'm already spending more money than usual on the travel, so in my mind, it's easier to lump the purchase in with "travel expenses". at it's finest. (also, I hate the term . Not sure why I used it.)

Love to hear your thoughts on the subject of buying new clothes for travel. (Or if that's what you want to share).

For nearly my entire life, I have struggled with washing my face. I was an Oil of Olay SPF girl for the basic coverage. Face washing felt time consuming and messy (all that water everywhere!!). I tried washing in the shower, simple face wipes, expensive stuff, cheap stuff… nothing stuck.

I started experimenting with things that didn’t need access to a sink, because the get-ready area of the gym doesn’t have one. I didn’t want to have to take a billion products to the gym, either. I wanted my essentials. It took TWO YEARS of playing around with different solutions to come up with this one: a clear bag with travel toiletries I can refill.

This bag has everything I use every day (plus a toothbrush and toothpaste in a protective outside patch). It easily moves from my gym bag to my dresser, where I am able to do my face routine without fighting with my husband for space in our single-sink bathroom. It even can get popped into a travel bag without having to think about if I have everything I need.

TWO YEARS. Finding the right thing takes time. Be curious. Keep trying. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

(You also do t have to spend a bunch of money to try an organizing strategy. I just as easily could have tried a ziplock bag. I would have included the size of the bag into my assessment of the system.
