Just posting a quick update!

The garden is growing and now we are waiting for blooms! We have been lucky with the weather this year! The heavy rain after the dahlias were planted did rot about 10-15 tubers, but I easily replanted them (we have more than 350 planted so that was good). The birds are picking the sunflower seeds out of the ground again, but not nearly as many as last year. I’ve only replanted a few. Since the early heavy rain, we have steadily had the pattern of a few days of sun and a couple of rain. This pattern is great!
I took advantage of the cooler weather tonight and weeded. I found a few dahlia buds! I staked the taller dahlias. I will go through and pinch the stems a bit to promote outward growth/blooms, and will give them a round of compost tea shortly after this.
The hoophouse has blooms, and we have lavender, so our roadside stand has been open the past couple of weekends.
This season (of the garden and life) has me thinking which direction I will go. I have learned through growing flowers what I don’t want the garden to be- and what brings me the most joy with the garden. I really think the garden has a plan for itself and I will know soon 💜. Leaving things up to Mother Nature from here on out is the best part. I have no idea what this space will look like in two months, but I can imagine it will be magical! For me, I will be taking in every joyous moment in the garden, and making sure I spend much more time doing things like this that fill me with gratitude.
I cannot wait to share this garden with you!

Hello all! We were planning on opening the stand this weekend, but it looks like we are delayed a few days due to the forecast rain and the stand needing fixed. We will let you know when the official opening is!

In the meantime, we need your ideas on lavender! This is the second year of our lavender maze (anticipated shrub-like plants in year 3), but we are amazed at how well the plants are doing, and they are blooming now! They are ready to be enjoyed! We need your feedback! How would you like to enjoy our lavender? Would you prefer dried lavender buds, or fresh picked bundles (or both)? Do you have any other ideas?

In physics, divergent energy is the rate at which energy flows from a specific point or disperses outward. Positive divergence is energy moving away from a point- and negative divergence is energy absorbed.
The energy has to have a place to go.

I never did well in physics. I couldn’t understand it. Actually, I had trouble understanding how to apply it to daily life.

But metaphorically, I get it. I find (with my garden) the more negative energy I absorb, the more I time/energy I need to spend growing/designing things 😁. Energy in = energy out. That must be why, when I feel less than myself, I long for a day in the garden. If I can listen to life around me and busy myself with a task that may be part of building beauty, I cannot worry. We are somehow drawn to the wild. To be part of the wild as we experience it allows a human nature re-set. It reminds us that we can just be.

Energy can also be shared. Do you remember the law of conservation of energy? Energy is constantly being divided and shared. Being alone in the garden is something magical. Being with others in the garden is pure joy 💜.

If you take a moment today, close your eyes and listen to the birds, the stream, the trees, the rain or sun (take your pick, it’s May in Pennsylvania!). Breathe it in. There is beautiful energy everywhere. You don’t want to miss it. And if you can, don’t forget to share it!
