🌧️ Houston has been getting plenty of rain lately, and we know that can put a pause on garden projects, but it’s also a good time to let your soil soak it in and see where your garden could use better drainage, more organic matter, or a little refresh.

Just a reminder that Nature’s Way Resources will be closed Monday, September 7th, for Labor Day.

If you’re taking advantage of the rain and getting your garden plans together, we’ll be back to our normal business hours Tuesday, September 8th and ready to help with your soil, compost, mulch, and plants.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!

A Pipevine Swallowtail has officially emerged from its chrysalis at the nursery.

After spending time developing inside the chrysalis, this butterfly is now stretching and drying its wings before taking its first flight.

Pipevine Swallowtails are native to our area, and their caterpillars depend on pipevine species as host plants. The adults feed on nectar from a variety of flowers.

A pretty cool thing to catch in the garden, and a good reminder that supporting butterflies means providing the plants they need throughout their entire life cycle.

One of the most important plants you can add to a pollinator garden? Milkweed.

Butterfly W**d (Asclepias tuberosa) is a striking native perennial with clusters of bright orange flowers that bring plenty of color to the summer landscape. It’s also a critical host plant for monarch caterpillars, providing the only food source they can use to complete their life cycle.

The flowers are loved by bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, making Butterfly W**d a beautiful and hardworking addition to the garden. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and looks great in pollinator gardens, perennial beds, prairie-style plantings, or tucked among grasses and other native wildflowers.

We have 1-gallon Butterfly W**d available in the nursery now. If you're looking to add more plants that support the wildlife around you, this is a great one to have in your garden!

Don’t forget to pair it with some Nature’s Way Resources soil! Rose soil is a great choice.

Care for your soil, see the benefits in your lawn !!

Rain is coming. And one thing you can do AFTER the rain passes is get down some Re-Mineralizer from Nature's Way Resources

Over time, soil can lose important minerals that plants need to grow well. Re-Mineralizer helps put those minerals back into the soil, giving your plants a better foundation for healthy growth.

It can help:

Replenish minerals in tired soil
Support stronger root development
Improve nutrient availability to plants
Build healthier, more productive soil
Prepare your lawn and garden for fall growing

Bring a little citrus home! 🍋

Our Improved Meyer Lemon trees are looking especially good right now, and we have them planted in decorative pots that make them ready to enjoy as both a beautiful plant and a future source of homegrown lemons.

Meyer lemons are prized for their fragrant blossoms, glossy evergreen foliage, and sweeter, less acidic fruit than traditional lemons. They’re perfect for patios, porches, sunny courtyards, or anywhere you want a little edible landscaping.

And yes, you can actually use the lemons! Think homemade lemonade, desserts, salad dressings, cocktails, or simply adding a fresh squeeze to your favorite recipes.

We have these beautiful potted Meyer Lemon trees available in the nursery now, while they last!

Have you ever wanted to try bonsai but weren’t sure where to start?

Join us at 9 AM during our Fall Garden Festival for “Organic Bonsai Growing and Care in South Texas” with Ashley Smith of Windward Gardens.

A native Houstonian, Ashley has spent years learning and practicing organic growing methods in our South Texas climate, with a special focus on bonsai and desert plants. He’ll be sharing his knowledge on how to successfully grow and care for bonsai in the Houston area.

Whether you’re new to bonsai or already have a few trees of your own, come learn from someone who knows what it takes to grow these beautiful plants in our climate.

And this is just the start of the day! Stick around for local vendors, fall plant sales, live music, our Sip & Shop, Vendor Bingo, family activities, and a live onsite Q&A with GardenLine’s Skip Richter, 12 PM- 2 PM.
