We use organic practices to grow our produce for personal use and to sell at local Farmers Markets. We also raise chickens and bees and are working towards living sustainably. We "make from scratch" whatever we can; from our food to some of our body care products. Striving to live in tune with nature we are also improving our property with wildlife habitats and pollinator fields. We hunt, fish, sp

end time with our family and work on our property with whatever free time we can find from our jobs. It's a laborious life, but one that is also very rewarding.

If anyone has been looking to get in to a cows' milk share, I've been getting mine here and truly enjoy it! They have availability!

We've got some shareholder availability for anyone looking for fresh milk - . Cream on top, never heated so still containing all its digestive enzymes, and all the vitamin and mineral content is completely intact. 😊

We raise Jersey cows grazed 24/7 on rotational pasture as the season allows, supplemented with a non-gmo small grain ration (soy & corn free), and fed our own organically grown hay through the winter.

Jerseys have some of the highest butterfat of all the dairy cows making their milk super creamy and delicious and good for turning your cream into butter if you desire.

We offer farm pickup here in rapid river, delivery to trenary, Chatham, wetmore, and Harvey.

Send us a message to get started or email us [email protected].

Current shareholders, can you share a picture of your milk drinking cup to help get our post seen my some folks? 🫶

I'm still getting used to what mushrooms I can forage here in the UP. Ever since we moved here, I've been looking for Chicken of the Woods (Laetiporus sulphureus). We don't have many oaks on our property, and I was told they prefer this species, so Saturday I decided to venture off our property into state land in hopes of finding more oaks out there.
I found plenty of oaks, but no COW. So I gave up and headed back onto our land to gather some oyster mushrooms from a place where I found them last week. Suddenly in the distance I saw this bright orange object on a tree about 75 yards away. It was like a beacon! As I approached, I started getting giddy. Yeppers, I finally found some and on our land! But not on an oak, as expected, but on a very large wild cherry tree! (I've since discovered they like cherry and beech trees too).
I removed a section, brought it home and cooked up a small trial piece. The next day, since we had no adverse reactions, we cooked up the rest and added it to our venison stew. Yum. So happy to have found this. I'll be going back for more to cook up and put in the freezer for future meals. They can get quite large, much bigger than what I found.

We'll be at the Manistique Farmers' Market this evening! This will be the last week we offer zucchini or zucchini bread. Besides the variety of vegetables we've been bringing, we soon expect to offer more eggplant, HOT peppers, tomatoes, Spaghetti and Butternut squash. Come down and see us, and the other vendors, today at Triangle Park in Manistique.

This has been a challenging grow season on the homestead. Being gone during planting time had us planting our vegetables late, only to have grasshoppers wipe out most of what was planted.
Add to that, another bug infestation of chafer beetles that stripped through our orchard.
So we scrambled to organically deal with all these setbacks and are finally seeing some progress.
Pictured is a small native plant patch in my raised bed garden, full of nectar producing flowers that are feeding: Soldier Beetles, Great Spangled Fritillary, native bumblebees and many other pollinating insects.

Looks like the 2024 growing season is coming to a close for me. I'll be bringing the last of some of our produce to Manistique Farmers' Market tomorrow. Things like kale, cabbage and brussel sprouts continue to grow in these cooler temps, but most other veggies have been pulled in. This might be the last market for me this year, so come get your favorites.
