Since 1967, Nichols Architects has been involved in the planning and design of more than $5 billion dollars in new construction and renovation, encompassing over 50,000 hotel rooms. The firm has designed over 250 hotels, often in

cooperation with the hospitality industry's most prestigious names. These hotels include many major convention hotels, business hotels, resorts including residential / timeshare components, and major mixed-use projects involving hotel / office / retail / residential uses. Within the past five years, the firm has also done extensive work in the development of major brand condo/hotels. New project alert! Nichols Architects is proud to be the Architect of Record for the newly unveiled Aston Martin Residences Daytona Beach Shores—an 18-story oceanfront tower developed by Valor Real Estate Development in collaboration with GVI and Aston Martin’s design teams.
 
We’re honored to be selected for this role and grateful for the trust placed in our team to guide the project’s technical ex*****on, ensuring the design vision is delivered with the highest level of quality and detail.
 
The development will bring 86 luxury residences to Florida’s Atlantic coast, combining refined architecture with Aston Martin’s signature craftsmanship. Completion is anticipated in 2029.

It’s the height of summer, and there’s no better place to be than the beach! This season, the Opal Collection welcomes Opal Sol’s first summer on Clearwater.

Intentionally designed to reflect the natural beauty of its surroundings, the duo of Opal Sol and Opal Sands mimics the coastline continuous movement created by the waves.

Connected by an elevated walkway, both hotels offer unobstructed Gulf views in every suite, thanks to single-loaded corridors designed by the Nichols team.

Opal Sol keeps guests connected to the horizon, making the most of summer, and every season after.

At Block F of Miami Worldcenter, our Jewel Box anchors the public plaza with sharp geometry, layered transparencies, and street-level retail that’s already nearly fully leased.

Designed to invite movement from every angle, the building came alive during last week’s grand opening—with locals and visitors filling the plaza, exploring new shops, and enjoying the space as it was always meant to be: vibrant, connected, and open to all.

We’re proud to share that the Mira Mar received unanimous approval to a comprehensive plan amendment on the Sarasota City Commission this week.

This milestone paves the way for two 18-story residential towers to rise next to the historic Mira Mar —supporting the financing and long-term preservation of this local landmark. Designed to the highest standards, the new condominium towers take inspiration from Mediterranean architecture, with modern lines, elegant setbacks, and proportions carefully considered to respect the scale and presence of the original hotel and retail frontage.

Working alongside REG Architects, specialists in historic preservation, we’re ensuring that this new chapter builds respectfully upon Sarasota’s architectural legacy and hope that the property can be enjoyed by the local community for the next hundred years.

Designed by Nichols Architects, the hotel was imagined as an extension of Wynwood itself, blending into its vibrant fabric through art, hidden entries, and lively communal spaces. From bars and restaurants to open-air courtyards and flexible event rooms, every space was designed to host more than just guests—it was made to welcome the community.

As we head to Bisnow’s Wynwood to Edgewater Development Forum this afternoon, we take a look back at this design study for a residential high-rise in Edgewater, developed in 2024. 

It’s designed to create the effect of pulling the two towers apart, as if by hand, leaving behind subtle “finger marks” in the building massing. These marks take shape as balconies, adding rhythm to the façade and offering a distinctive experience for residents. On the inward-facing side, the walls and windows feature an elegant yet dynamic pattern to enhance visual interest.

Though this design remains just a study, we value the opportunity to explore bold ideas—just as Wynwood and Edgewater’s skyline continues to evolve, so do we.

Introducing Joule House ⚡️

Formerly known as Wynhouse, Joule House reflects the energy and movement of its surroundings—situated next to a power station and deeply connected to the pulse of Wynwood.

This nine-story residential building is designed with a focus on pedestrian flow, featuring paseos that enhance connectivity and provide additional retail frontage.

Currently in the final stages of construction, Joule House is already open for pre-leasing.

The project is developed by Fisher Brothers, with concept, interiors, and amenities by Rockwell Group and Nichols Architects as executive architects and Witkin Hults + Partners as the landscape architects. The project team also includes Suffolk Construction as general contractor, DeSimone Consulting Engineers, Langan Engineering, and JALRW Engineering Group.
