Gloxinia erinodes is one of my favorite plants at the moment. Teeny, delicate white and pink flowers and round leaves with white spots on them. What could be cuter?

Whenever I do plant shows, I bring a lot of begonias — and hear these comments over and over. I’ve killed my fair share, it sucks. But I find them so rewarding to grow, namely because I love the colors, patterns, and big crazy leaves on some species.

I see some people who grow from seed advocating killing seedlings that don't grow as vigorously. I hate this. That doesn't give you true genetic diversity or plant health. What if there are characteristics in slower-growing seedlings that are necessary?
