One of only 19 in Nueces County!

We know The Ritz as a Corpus Christi treasure, but it's not just locals who agree!

In 2024, the Texas Historical Commission and the National Park Service agreed that The Ritz contributed to the entertainment industry in Corpus Christi over decades and was worthy of preservation–we’re now proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places!

Reactivating historic buildings downtown is good for all of us, and the bonus is that this is the neighbor of the oldest commercial building in the city, the Lovenskoild Building, built in 1891. I wish it could be next just so I could see inside!

This building doesn't look like much so you've probably never paid it mind and it'll be a big improvement for the block to have it occupied and active.

This summer, construction is expected to begin to turn half of the vacant space into an upscale bourbon bar called Drams; the other half will be for retail

Alyssa is one of the greatest gifts downtown Corpus Christi has ever received. She always kept the history and culture at the center of her actions, including some true long shots that led to the preservation of buildings others would have just written off. She'll be missed!

Meeting this man I felt like I was in the presence of a legacy so big it radiated out of the music shop where he shared his memories with me. He spoke so humbly about the role his family played in the legacy of the Galvan Ballroom (Duke Ellington played there!) and in jazz music. More importantly, they made music accessible to more people, which no doubt changed lives.

The Galvan Ballroom is on the National Register of Historic Places and a Texas Hispanic Heritage Site.

Bobby Galvan Sr. opened the Galvan Music Company on the first floor of the building that houses the Galvan Ballroom in 1960.

Great, positive progress underway!

The timeline on the theater's restoration completion hasn't quite changed, Cheryl Votzmeyer-Rios said, but she feels the project is right on time.

A new National Register recognition is always something to celebrate!

The story of Corpus Christi is not solely local. What happened here is past of our nationwide history! You could teach nearly all the major events of American history for 200 years through the lives of those buried here.
