Tree Wise Men is a family-owned tree care company with deep local roots in the Council Bluffs–Omaha area. The story began in the mid-2000s, when Joel started heating his home with wood from his dad’s acreage south of town. Word got around that he had a chainsaw—and ac
tually enjoyed using it—and soon he was helping friends, coworkers, and neighbors with their tree troubles. What began as weekend side gigs quickly grew into a full-blown passion. By 2015, Joel invited his brother Josh to join him, and in 2022, both brothers left longtime careers in teaching and IT to focus full-time on growing Tree Wise Men. Joel and Josh are joined by their youngest brother Jordan, who left a thriving engineering career to manage operations. While engineering was going great, Jordan couldn’t resist the chance to work alongside family and help build something meaningful from the ground up (or from the canopy down). He believes deeply in what Tree Wise Men stands for—and in the potential to grow a company rooted in integrity, skill, and service. Robbie, a competition-level climber and third-generation arborist, brings elite precision and technique to the team, while Russ contributes over a decade of heavy equipment expertise. Even the next generation is involved—Joel’s and Josh’s kids are already pitching in and carrying on the tradition. If you hear tiny footsteps and see someone dragging a rake twice their size, don’t worry—they’re in training. Tree Wise Men is proud to be part of a national emergency tree response network. They’ve traveled coast to coast assisting communities after hurricanes, storms, and natural disasters. Emergency response has become one of their specialties—working quickly when trees fall on homes and partnering directly with homeowners and insurance companies to restore safety and peace of mind. Locally, Tree Wise Men handles everything from precision pruning and storm cleanup to highly technical, hard-to-access removals. Whether it’s routine tree maintenance or 24/7 emergency service, the crew brings deep knowledge, genuine care, and strong family values to every job.
