November 7th and there is a speck of ice on the goldfish pond, the first chill here on the farm. We harvested the last of the tomatoes and peppers this week as we needed to mulch the beds for the season of rest. The larder and freezers are packed full for the year. This season's abundance was astonishing. I will begin to put the orchard to bed next with a blanket of wood chips to protect our soil life and offer the trees a bit of stability temperature wise. With grateful hearts we welcome it all and pause to savor the changing seasons.

Brown Peach Galette. When you are the orchardist, what comes into your kitchen is only the blemished peaches. I asked my dad if he'd like a container of "good" peaches before I sold the last of the crop. He said no, he'd gotten plenty with the rejected ones. And so it is that all of our best peaches are sold for the season. We are so grateful for all of you that stop by to share in our harvests. And with the remaining few blemished peaches we shall be canning some pints for the months ahead.

We thought we would be hosting a family wedding here next weekend when I planned the gardens in January. As it was, plans changed and the tropics beckoned the wedding event in February. But I must say, the bouquets here would have been spectacular. Come see the beauty of our farm in late August and pick up some Orchard Peaches, Blackberries, or some gorgeous bouquets.
