Most people throw away one of the best fertilizers their garden can make for free.

Chop-and-drop is one of the easiest ways to:
recycle nutrients back into the soil
protect the ground from drying out
feed worms and microbes naturally
build healthier soil over time

Instead of hauling everything out of the garden, a lot of it can stay right where it grew.

Especially out here in dry Zone 9B conditions, keeping organic matter on the soil makes a huge difference over time.

I introduced a new queen last week… and came back to find her in a death ball.

When bees reject a queen, they’ll literally surround her and try to kill her. I was able to pull her out and cage her, but now the question is—will they accept her after this?

I did notice some bees feeding her, which is a good sign… but after something like that, it can still go either way.

I’m going to give them time to settle and come back in a few days to see what happens.
