Please put the Barton family and Plantation Tree Company staff on your prayer list today. We are all mourning the loss of Mr. Buzz Barton this morning. Mr. Buzz was one of the owners of PTC and also the owner of Barton's Landscape in Tuscaloosa, AL. He was a successful business man, and true family man!!! There will be a private family funeral, and then a celebration of life service will be announced later. We will keep everyone posted.

Dr. Bill Welch - long time extension horticulturist at Texas A&M University. A great friend to many Louisiana horticulture folks. Proud LSU graduate. Contributed so much to horticulture across the South for many, many years. He endowed a scholarship at LSU in support of horticulture majors. Prayers are with Dr. Welch's family.

2026 DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD from the the Louisiana County Agricultural Agents Association and National Association of County Agricultural Agents!

Will Afton serves as Agriculture and Natural Resource Extension Agent with the LSU AgCenter focusing on horticulture in St Tammany Parish and also serves as a Louisiana Master Gardener Volunteer Program Coordinator where he manages a group of 245 active Master Gardener volunteers. Mr Afton completed a B.S. degree in Environmental Horticulture from Louisiana State Univeristy in 2011 and a M.S. in Commercial Vegetable Crops from Louisiana State University in 2018.
