Happened upon this beautiful portrait the other day, and it doesn’t happen often, but it captured me. It’s all the little ways- her posture, her dress, the lighting. I wanted to try to reflect that. I used markers, pen, paint markers, and oil pastel in my piece.

A little conviction and reminder from the word of God. As I get older I feel it’s easy to slip into feeling exasperated quicker, but I know by God’s grace and provision He can be patient and loving through me. “Apart from Me you can do nothing,” He says. 🤍

Draw closer and closer still to your Creator, know more and more each day that He is Love. As the roots of knowing Him grow stronger and deeper the winds that once tore and toppled toss you no more. The more you know Him, truly know Him, the more you see Him at work in each detail. He is your defense, your refuge. He is your peace, your hope.

Another night, another attempt at a new technique! For this sketch I once again turned my book and reference photo upside down, but this time focusing on shading and values. I am pleased with the outcome! I cannot thank the Lord enough for this gift. I truly love to draw.

The Lord made the whole universe and yet still thinks of me. The mountains are great in size and yet greater still are His thoughts toward me. (Psalm 139:17-18) What a love, I have nothing to offer Him. What a love He has for me. What a love that He would take my failures and shame upon Him and offer me His very life. Herr deine Liebe ist so kostbar. Herr meine Quelle, alles Leben strömt aus dir. Wenn auch alles vergeht bleibt Du doch bestehen.
