DO NOT let your filters get this dirty! Old one on the left obviously, new one on the right.
The last time this homeowner changed her return vent filters was February 2023! These clogged filters not only are filthy, they are dangerous to your equipment. Because of the clogged filters, her air handler motor blew and had to be replaced. Thankfully i was able to replace just the motor for her and not have to replace the entire unit.
Your filters are a critical part of your heating and cooling system. Your return vent filters protect your air handlerer from dust and debris. Once they are clogged, your air handler struggles to get air flow, decreasing efficiency and putting unbelievable stress on components. A clogged $10 filter will result in Thousands of dollars of repairs.
Have your filters changed regularly!
I recommend changing filters every 3 months. However, if you smoke in your home or have pets, i recommend changing the filters every 30-45 days.
Or if you prefer putting my grandkids through college for me, then let your filters clog up and I’ll be out to replace your entire unit next year! Ha ha ha
