Here's an example of when you hire someone for work and think their prices are too high....here is why (and fyi, this custome did not have any issue with my pricing, just using the situation as an example). Other installers/construction companies may not do a job the way it's intended to be done. When we do repairs and replacements, we often find out that a lot more work is needed to be done due to poor craftsmanship, new materials and measurements not compatible with old melaterials and it's measurements. You can't see underlying issues until you open up the can of worms. So don't always assume that you can get it done cheaper and expect the same quality.
This door, does not have any tolerances for the doors to be replaced, I now have to find an alternative solution to finish the install.
- plane off a portion of the upper cross member
-remove sheet rock and reframe above the doors, install Sheetrock back and float/tape
-take a mini sledge and try to muscle the tolerance out of the board (this should never be an option, but could be something to expect with a "get the job done" company)
Please always consider the quality you want to get when you pay someone to do work. It's your hard earned money that is invested back into your home!
