Friends and family, today is the best day we’re gonna have before the “BIG FREEZE” hits. Please go outside and make sure your crawl space and foundation vents are closed, I know we’ve experienced cold weather like this before but we usually don’t have 25 mph winds with gusts up to 40mph pushing the cold air into every crack it can find. This will result in frozen pipes in homes that normally wouldn’t have any problems. Make sure your water meter box has a lid on it and if at all possible place a rubber mat on top of the lid or anything equivalent..PLEASE leave a stream of water running, your not going to cost yourself a fortune by leaving a steady stream of water running for a few days. There are 1440 minutes in a 24 hour period and if you leave 1/4 gallon a minute stream running that’s 360 gallons a day at $12.16 per thousand (which is the highest water rate in Cumberland County) which amounts to $3.04 per day times let’s say 3 days would be $9.12…… that’s a lot cheaper than paying for burst pipes and a plumber. BUT if you do experience this mishap rest assure that we at Garrett Trenching and Plumbing will be on standby to make sure your Christmas Holidays are not ruined, we can be reached at 931-200-0400 Monte….
