Let's talk about 🚩🚩 when assessing your current blow-in insulation in your attic space and things that make a professional insulator go 😳.
The first three photos pictured here are new insulation-which is great! The only problem here are the empty gaps and shallow fill (only 2-3 inches in several spots when this customer needed much more-leaving this customer with a drafty attic and a low R-value (higher R value=better insulation).
The last two photos are a well insulated attic with lots of fluffy, even coverage.(As seen by the rulers in the photos) Filling these cavities evenly and adequately provides a higher R-value and saves you money when heating and cooling your home! Make sure when choosing who is going to be insulating your home to see their prior work! They should be able to show you these even fills that are measured with rulers like shown-not a job that's been "eyeballed" and left with gaps and shallow spots when you are undoubtedly paying for more insulation than you are receiving!
