Every living room is different.
Some homes have an open-concept space where you have to create separate “rooms” with your furniture layout. Some have a more formal living room, while others have a bonus room meant for lounging at the end of the day. And some (like mine!) have a space that needs to do ALL of the above. 🤪
Regardless of how your living room functions, it’s often one of the hardest-working rooms in the house. It’s where you gather with friends, cozy up for a movie, and host every holiday. 😂
I truly believe you can have a beautiful, functional living room without renovating or spending a fortune. A lot of it comes down to layout, scale, spacing, paint color, and choosing pieces that actually work for your space (don’t sleep on Marketplace!).
A few things I’d consider:• A properly sized sofa• A large area rug• Coffee table + ottomans• End tables + lamps• Curtains• Art• Pillows + throws• Greenery• Storage baskets• A console or sofa table• Sconces or floor lamps for additional lighting
If you’re constantly second-guessing things like how big should my TV sideboard be? How high should I hang my art? What size rug do I need? How big should my light fixture be?
