From an unfinished space to a warm, Utah-inspired sanctuary.
This transformation was all about creating a room that felt warm, inviting, and connected to the beautiful property surrounding it. Our customers wanted that rustic Utah mountain-lodge feel—natural wood, stone, warmth, texture, and a space that immediately makes you want to settle in and stay awhile.
We leaned heavily into natural materials. The rich wood-planked ceiling brings warmth from the moment you walk in, while the reclaimed wood feature wall adds character that you simply can’t recreate with new materials. Every knot, grain, and imperfection gives the room its own personality. We carried those earthy elements into the stone fireplace surround, creating a cozy focal point that gives the entire space that Western mountain-retreat feel.
One of the biggest changes was adding three sliding glass doors. We didn’t want this beautiful room to feel closed off. The additional glass completely opened it up, flooded the space with natural light, and—most importantly—gave our customers the ability to sit inside and enjoy the acreage the good Lord has blessed them with. When you’re surrounded by beautiful land, we believe the inside of your home should allow you to enjoy it too.
We finished the space with warm recessed lighting, rustic wall sconces, dark ceiling fans, natural wood trim, and layers of different textures. Nothing needed to be overly polished or perfectly matched. The goal was warm, rugged, comfortable and timeless—like a little piece of Utah brought right into their home.
This wasn’t just about finishing another room. It was about creating a sanctuary—a place to turn on the fireplace, watch the sun go down over the property, gather with family, or simply sit quietly and appreciate what God has provided.
Warm wood. Natural stone. Tons of light. Beautiful views. And a room our customers can enjoy for years to come.
Another transformation we’re proud to put the DS Custom Carpentry name on.
