The greenhouse is bursting with color, and the Flower Shop is looking pretty spectacular today, too! 💐

🌿✨ PLANT SPOTLIGHT: APHELANDRA — ZEBRA PLANT ✨🌿

Looking for a houseplant that makes a statement? Meet the Aphelandra, commonly known as the Zebra Plant!

With its gorgeous, glossy deep-green leaves and striking white veins, this tropical beauty is a showstopper even when it isn’t blooming. Given the right conditions, Aphelandra can also produce beautiful bright yellow flower bracts! 💛🌿

🌱 ZEBRA PLANT CARE:

☀️ LIGHT: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid hot, direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.

💧 WATER: Keep the soil consistently moist, but never soggy. Water when the top of the soil begins to feel slightly dry.

💦 HUMIDITY: Zebra Plants LOVE humidity! A humidifier, pebble tray, or grouping it with other houseplants can help—especially during our dry indoor winter months.

🌡️ TEMPERATURE: Keep it warm and cozy, ideally around 65–80°F. Protect it from cold drafts and heating vents.

🌿 FERTILIZER: Feed with a balanced houseplant fertilizer during the active growing season. Reduce feeding during winter.

✂️ GROOMING: Remove spent blooms and yellowing leaves as needed. A light trim after flowering can encourage fuller, bushier growth.

⚠️ WATCH FOR: Brown or crispy leaf edges can indicate low humidity or inconsistent watering, while yellowing leaves may mean the soil is staying too wet.

🦓 FUN FACT: The Zebra Plant gets its name from the dramatic white striping along its leaves. Each leaf looks like a little piece of living artwork!
