I have some questions.

I’m receiving emails from galleries and shows to “Pay to Play” art exhibits and they are not cheap. We are talking $500+…
I personally can’t afford it, but is it something that you all do? Is this how it is now?

I feel like artist are taking all the risks and the galleries can sit back and collect because they don’t feel the pressure to sell. Then, there are galleries that also ask up to 50% on top of those fees.

How is that fair and fun? It feels predatory to me.

Is it for rich artists to get that kind of exposure? Aren’t less income producing artists with amazing skills getting left behind?

Doesn’t it seem like it’s gatekeeping at its finest?

Please don’t be afraid to comment. I’m learning as I go.

I’m looking for a gallery that wants to take a chance on me because they believe I can sell. Are those still out there?
