Anne Blackwell Thompson has embarked on a unique journey to preserve southern flora in the classic tradition of pressed botanicals into unique artistic compositions. Her adventures to date have included explorations of the swamps of South Carolina, the Atlantic Ocean coast, the mountains of North Carolina, and the plantations of Virginia as she discovers, harvests, and presses beautiful blooms, fo

liage and seaweed. Anne's signature style, in the ancient European tradition, yields stunning botanicals that are a study in texture, color and shape. Custom commissions are encouraged as Anne enjoys collaborating with her fellow gardeners on their specific projects. She brings to bear two decades of work as a historical decorative painter to this magnificent art form.

Rooted in a shared vision, the collaboration between Blackwell Botanicals and McKinnon and Harris reflects a commitment to thoughtful design, enduring artistry, and the hand of the maker. Rooms with a View, a beloved Southport tradition, is New England’s premier annual design event founded by the legendary Albert Hadley. Each November, designers and creatives gather at the Southport Congregational Church to lecture and present inspired vignettes celebrating design and imagination. I’m thrilled to be sharing my passion for pressed botanicals and to experience the extraordinary designs on display.

Our Lecture Series is always so informative and entertaining.
Friday November 7th, 11:30am - 1:30pm
This year we welcome Anne Blackwell Thompson who will be presenting “Pressing Botanicals - Harvesting Nature’s Bounty”

The natural world is my palette, and the kaleidoscope of pressed plant material is my chosen medium. Anne will have several of her framed works for sale after the lecture.

From 2pm - 3pm:

David Kleinberg Design Associates is an internationally recognized leader in interior design and architectural renovation specializing in highly curated and customized interiors that appeal to a sophisticated and discerning clientele. Founded in 1997 by David Kleinberg after a sixteen-year tenure at the venerable Parish-Hadley.

David will also be on hand to be sign copies of his new book, Interiors by David Kleinberg, after the lecture.
