A design idea can look beautiful in a photo and still feel out of place in your home.

Before making a major renovation decision, I look at the home’s architecture, how the rooms connect, and which details are worth preserving. In my new article, I share examples from real projects where those questions shaped the design.

The article is “When Design Trends Clash With Your Home’s Architecture.” You can find it under Blog on the Design by KETI website.

What’s one feature of your home you’d want to keep?

Just because something is trending doesn’t mean it belongs in your home!

We’ve all seen those beautiful kitchens and bathrooms on Pinterest and Instagram. But some of today’s most popular design choices might not age particularly well.

Open shelving instead of upper cabinets? Matte black faucets? Removing the only bathtub in your primary bathroom?

Before investing thousands in a renovation, it’s worth considering how these decisions will affect everyday living and the long-term appeal of your home.

I recently wrote about five expensive design trends homeowners may come to regret.

Which design trend do you think will age the worst?

First everything was gray. Now everything is beige. Are we repeating the same design mistake?

A few years ago, gray was everywhere—gray cabinets, gray flooring, gray countertops, and gray walls.

Today, the pendulum has swung toward beige, cream, and warm neutrals.

But here’s the thing: replacing one monochromatic trend with another doesn’t necessarily create a timeless home.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with gray or beige. Both can be beautiful when used thoughtfully.

The difference is in how we balance color, contrast, materials, textures, and architectural details to create spaces that feel intentional rather than trendy.

As a Dallas interior designer and renovation professional, I encourage homeowners to consider not just what’s popular today, but what will continue to work beautifully for their homes and lifestyles years from now.

Trends change. Thoughtful design lasts.

Swipe through to see the difference, including two projects from our Design by KETI portfolio.

What’s your take? Are you embracing the all-beige trend, or do you prefer a more layered approach?

Hardwood or Luxury Vinyl Plank? Which Makes More Sense for Your Home?

Hardwood is beautiful, timeless, and often worth preserving. But is it always the best flooring choice? Not necessarily!

When renovating a home, the right decision depends on the condition of the existing floors, your lifestyle, your budget, and what you’re trying to accomplish.

In one of our Dallas-area luxury home make-ready projects, we replaced damaged hardwood and worn carpeting with quality luxury vinyl plank, creating a cohesive look throughout the living spaces.

The home sold within a week of listing!

The lesson? Smart renovations aren’t about choosing the most expensive material. They’re about choosing the right material for the home.

In our latest blog, we discuss the pros and cons of hardwood versus luxury vinyl plank and what homeowners should consider before making that investment.

Beautiful spaces are wonderful. Happy clients are even better. 🤍

This 5,900-square-foot University Park home renovation included everything from whole-home painting and cabinetry to new flooring, a primary suite remodel, a kitchen refresh, and project management throughout.

One of my favorite parts of what I do is helping clients navigate all the decisions — and then bringing the design and construction pieces together so the finished home feels cohesive, intentional and completely theirs.

Thank you, Sally, for trusting Design by KETI with your home. 🤍

Choosing materials for a renovation means looking beyond what’s trending. How will the colors work together? Does the finish suit the home? Will it hold up to the way you live?

I share my approach in this week’s blog: “How to Choose Timeless Materials for Your Dallas Home Renovation.” If you’re gathering ideas for a kitchen, bathroom, or whole-home project, this is a good place to start.

Exterior color can completely change how a home feels—especially when the home has history.

For this Craftsman-style bungalow in Dallas’s M Streets, Design by KETI selected a palette from a historic color collection that complements the home’s architecture and the surrounding neighborhood. The result is a fresh look that still feels like it belongs.

Thoughtful design starts with understanding the house you have.
