Flores Bakehaus is a micro-bakery in Dallas, Texas established in October of 2018. I specialize in quick breads, jams and other delicious treats. Our products are made in small batches, from scratch and made to order. My name is Ernestina Flores but everyone knows me by Ernie. I am the owner and chef-baker of Flores Bakehaus. Baking is my passion and it shows in the products I make.
Flores Bakehaus operates under the Texas Cottage Food Law, which allows the production and sale of nonperishable items from my kitchen in Dallas. I first started baking at a very young age. I loved to watch cooking shows on PBS. I would spend my Saturdays glued to the TV and then would try to remake the recipes in my mom’s kitchen.
After graduating from high school in 1993 (yeah that was a long time ago), I went to El Centro Community College and enrolled in the pastry apprenticeship program.
Through the apprenticeship program at El Centro, I worked for three years as a pastry apprentice at the Omni Madalay in Las Colinas. I worked full-time and went to school part-time.

Over those three years, I learned classical techniques in producing breads and pastries. From making fresh rolls and croissants to French pastries and chocolate truffles. I graduated from the Texas Chef’s Association Apprenticeship program in 1998.

Over the years I have worked at a couple of bakeries in DFW area and several non-food service jobs. Every job has been a learning experience and even when I was not working in food service, I always have gravitated back to baking. Fast forward to 2019 and this October Flores Bakehaus will turn 1 year old!!!
Flores Bakehaus currently sells at local vendor markets and sometimes has pop-up events at local businesses in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas.
