Am I the only gardener with a favorite leafy green?!

Swiss Chard... it makes me smile. I just can't get enough of the vibrant pinkish/red stems and supple, deep green leaves! I mean, just look at it! It's a standout in the garden!

FALL REPLANT CHECKLIST!

1. Cut-down/remove all tired, last season, dead plants.
2. Add compost and fertilizer to the over worked and depleted soil!
3. Plant and talk to the new babies going in for the fall!
4. Finish off with a thick layer of mulch!

Be sure to water good and check for pests, and you will be enjoying a fall harvest in no time!! 🧡🌱🍅

Last week marked the beginning of our FALL REPLANT! We got to visit 2 of our WHITE GLOVE SUBSCRIBERS and replant their VICTORY GARDEN BOXES with broccoli, cauliflower, and lots of leafy greens!

And did you know it was take your mom to the garden day?! I just made that up, but she joined me on my visits! I loved getting to introduce her to some of my favorite people! 🧡🌱🍅

How are you prepping your garden for fall?

Are you adding more nutrients and fertilizer? What about worm castings? Wait. What even are WORM CASTINGS?

Glad you asked! Let me tell you!

Worm castings are little structures created by worms in soil. They actually look like a bunch of worms all balled up together. It's actually worm 💩... so lots of organic matter!

But why do I need worm excrement in my garden?! Dude! You are asking great questions today! Let me enlighten you!

Good, healthy soil is made of oraganic matter, which is essentially what WCs are! Worm castings also increase the soil's water retention, improve soil aeration, and anchor plant nutrients that could otherwise wash away during our wonderful Texas storms!

But Grow Coach! Where can I get some of these magical worm castings?!

Hey there VICTORY GARDENERS!

Did y'all enjoy the FALL-ish type weather we experienced this weekend?! I know I did! It also got me thinking about 2 things...

1. Oops! Forgot to clean out our gutters! UGH!!

2. That's a lot of water cascading out of said gutters... WE SHOULD LOOK INTO Rain Barrels!

Rain barrels capture water from a roof and hold it for later use such as on lawns, gardens or indoor plants. Collecting roof runoff in rain barrels reduces the amount of water that flows from your property. It's a great way to conserve water and it's free water for use in your landscape.
