Michael Pentifallo, 60, of Damascus, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2026, surrounded by his family. He died from complications related to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Wyoming on August 5, 2025.
He was born on August 26, 1965, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the beloved son of Evelyn Burrell and the late Jon Pentifallo.
Michael is survived by his wife, Miriam Pentifallo; his son, Justin and wife Carolann Pentifallo; his stepchildren, Rebecca and husband Thomas Gross, Brandon and wife Leigh Wahl, and Brent Wahl; his grandchildren, Athena, Apollo, Joshua, Ethan, and Peyton; and his mother, Evelyn Burrell, and her life partner, Frank Gatto.
Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Richard (Rick) Pentifallo.
Michael built MCP Chimneys in 1991, and in his own words, "with an old pickup, $300, and a mission to treat every customer like family." He turned his one-man idea into a team of over 30 employees that grew into a family of its own.
Michael never stayed a stranger for long. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and, more often than not, walk away having made a new friend. With his quick sense of humor, his warm heart, and his gift for putting people at ease, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His smile—and that famous dimpled chin—are things so many of us will never forget.
Family and friends meant everything to Michael, and he found joy in the simplest moments spent with them, whether sharing a laugh, grabbing his usual Starbucks, getting in a workout at the gym, or sitting at a poker table. What people will remember most, though, is how he made them feel. He listened, he cared, and he always knew how to bring a smile to someone's face. Time and again, a single conversation with Michael grew into a lasting friendship, and it is those connections, and the warmth behind them, that will stay with all who knew him.
A service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 16151 Old Frederick Road, Mount Airy, Maryland 21771.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Father Martin Ashley.
