In addition to being a licensed Architect, Maura is a State of Connecticut Building Official Emeritus. The building codes are extensive, complicated, and often contradictory = always a thrilling challenge! We made this diagram for a meeting today: it explains applicable codes for a commercial renovation.

This incredible technology allows us to "walk through" distant construction sites from our desks. The plan in the upper right shows a blue walking path - I can click on the blue line and suddenly appear in each position with a 360 degree view. This image is a fifth floor apartment at Brainerd Place in Portland, CT.

A fun renovation/addition project:

This traditional horizontal ranch house is envisioned and transformed into a contemporary lake home. A popped-up roof articulates the main entrance and the living room space, while the roof over the kitchen and dining room is raised and extended to include a screened porch.
