CP takes the mystery and intimidation out of interior design with a formula for interior decor that begins with function and follows with beautiful form. Cynthia Princi Restyling and Design promotes a purposeful, sustainable, compassionate, and economic approach to interior design and decor. I take the mystery and intimidation out of the process with a formula that begins with function, first and
foremost, and follows with beautiful form. In addition to assisting the client to restyle (or stage for resale) their home with what already exists within their own walls, I advise as to what needs to be brought in - either new, used, vintage, antique, inherited, or all of the above - and what needs to be edited out. One of my favorite quotes for living, from designer William Morris, is : "Have nothing in your house which you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful." A very simple yet inspiring concept, which leads me to another widely held notion with regards to interiors -- "A house should be collected, not decorated." And therein lies the very essence of what I am about as a restylist and designer - display and live amongst objects you really love. I can help you realize how everything you love can co-exist in beautiful harmony, whether it be your Grandmother's African Mask she bought on Safari, the red metal Coca Cola cooler from the '50's you found in your great aunt's garage, the watercolor your parents bought on the Left Bank on their honeymoon, or the Salvador Dali signed print you bought at auction ten years ago. CP promotes re-using, re-purposing, and re-painting for an economic and eco-friendly objective. Second-hand doesn't mean second rate. Recovering soft furnishings as opposed to buying new helps the environment and is often times more economical. Accepting and using inherited furniture is something we should all do if we are lucky enough to have parents and grandparents wishing to part with their furnishings as they downsize. Anything can be re-purposed, refurbished or re-invented to meet the client's standards.
