After a deep clean, we applied a fresh coat of Mapei grout to have a more fluent uniform look. Its not only clean now but the work is also warrantied for the next 5 years!

Lets take a look at the task at hand today! This shower did not have any major underlying issues, but the owner wanted a fresh coat of grout. The original grout is a darker brown and they had someone else apply new grout previously which was a lighter color and washing out. We decided to go back with a darker grout, but first it needs a deep clean to get the new grout to bond

We try to take the path of least resistance as water does the same. Since this curb was leaking water outside the shower we started there. While we found a few voids inside the shower, we grinded out the grout inside and around the curb and the immediate outside. Tomorrow we will do some water tests to see if the problem was solved. We hope it was.

Lets take a look at what today has in store for us! We were sent a video of this shower leaking water outside at the bottom of the curb. After we inspected it and from the look of the carrera cap stains, its evident water is wicking up and over the curb. We suspect that there could be a saturated mud pan but that usually comes with a smell and water at the the change of planes when we open it up.

Our first approach is to focus on the easiest area which is the curb. We cut out the grout, vaccuumed out as much debri as we could, then we will let it sit for 24hrs. Tomorrow we will silicone the curb and change of planes then see what happens. If the same problem persists, it's a saturated mud pan and we have to silicone all the edges of the floor!
