Planting by the moon sounds a little witchy until you realize farmers have been doing it longer than we’ve had WiFi.
The idea is simple, the moon influences moisture. Just like it pulls the tides, it also affects groundwater in the soil. During the waxing moon (new → full), moisture is believed to rise and encourage strong leaf growth.
That’s when gardeners traditionally sow above ground crops. Lettuce, tomatoes, basil, anything you harvest for its leaves or fruit.
During the waning moon (full → new), energy shifts downward. Roots take the lead. That’s your window for carrots, potatoes, garlic, and transplanting seedlings so they establish deep, resilient systems.
Is it magic? No. Is it paying attention to patterns instead of fighting them? Absolutely.
For centuries, people who worked the land didn’t have apps telling them when to plant. They had sky literacy.
They watched the moon, felt the soil, and moved with the rhythm instead of against it.
You don’t have to follow it perfectly. You don’t have to be mystical about it. But there’s something grounding about stepping outside at night, looking up, and realizing the same moon guiding your seedlings guided generations before you.
Nature already keeps the calendar, we’re just remembering how to read it!

I know, I know I don’t post enough on here and it’s about to get cold, so here are a few tips and some fabulous herbs to know about & think about ordering during the cold snap coming! Best advice I can give for the brutal cold on the way- get outside and water any of the more tender perennials or plants you have the ice layers built above the ground and in the dirt around them will help to insulate them them for better chances at survival! If they are too dry- their roots will freeze and die!

If you ever came in the shop and wanted information oh how CBD works with your body, you probably got my spill on how your endocannininoid system works and how humans used to get CBD-a thru not only the h**p products they personally utilized, but because it grew wild - your cattle, pigs and other ag animals that ate it and then you ate or drank milk from…. It was a natural system, a system that prohibition halted. It’s about keeping your body in a state of homeostasis.

This post is purely for educational purposes, to entice you to do your own research and think about it. We no longer sell any CBD products so I have no financial gain in posting this, but personally, I think h**p should be reintroduced to the wild. Let it grow naturally and if people want to consume it, or let their animals consume it so be it. (I’m not talking about its psychoactive inducing relative plant. Just simple cannabinoid rich h**p.)

Why am I sharing this- I think it’s important that we don’t allow herbs & their usage to be bought out or criminalized for usage by big pharma.

It’s starting to frost! Time to go out and spray your more tender susceptible plants with water before the sun rises. This will save them a little longer…till the next one. We still have tons of peppers to pick! Heading out again
