I've been doing all the little (sometimes annoying) things that owning a house requires for my entire adult life and have accumulated a lot of handyman skills along the way.

I had an interesting project last week installing these Hexagon lights in a customer’s garage. It was my first time but they came out very nicely. What do you think?

Let me know if I can help you with your handyman projects. I serve Dawsonville and nearby communities.

“We have too many cast iron pans!” — said no one ever.

People like my wife never think they have too many cast iron skillets, griddles, cornbread pans, etc. Admittedly they are great to cook in for a wide range of foods. However, they can become a big storage problem. Not only do they take up space in your cabinets, but the weight can also destroy your cabinets whether you’re using fixed shelves or rollout shelves.

For us, we found this idea (pictured) somewhere and I built this cast iron wall to hang ours on. It solves several problems in one solution: it frees up huge amounts of space in you cabinets, as well as removing the weight, it utilizes a previously unused wall space, and you get to display your collection.

Let me know if I can help you build one of your own or some other home project. Message me and we’ll talk.

Hanging pictures can be a real pain. Especially if you’re just moving into a new place and have a million things to do. Not only that, but doing it right isn’t always easy either. Pictures need to be hung level and stay level, they need to be at the right height, they need to be properly centered on walls and over furniture. And if you have groups of pictures that need to hung together, forget about it.
If you need help hanging pictures, mirrors, shelves, or anything else in your home, message me and let’s see if I can help you out.

One of the first things people see when approaching your home is your mailbox. It appears to me that about 50% of all mailboxes I see have been poorly installed. The most common problem is not setting the post in concrete, or not enough concrete, and over time the sheer weigh of the mailbox and the horizontal cross piece, plus gravity causes the mailbox to tilt forward toward the street. Another common problem is installing the mailbox and post not according the USPS guidelines regarding the height of the box relative to street level, and the distance from the edge of the street. Yes, there really is a right and wrong way to install a mailbox, both for the way it looks, and to meet USPS guidelines.
The picture in this post is a double mailbox I built a few years ago for my neighbor's and my mailbox. Even if you don't need or want anything this elaborate, let me know if I can help with any future mailbox installation needs.
