Happy Arbor Day! Did you know Arbor Day, in one form or another, has been celebrated in the United States since 1872? Spain was the first to get the idea though, with the first tree planting festival in 1584, and the first official Arbor Day in 1805.

Use today to go on a walk on this lovely day and identify the trees you see on the way, or even clean up litter in a park to make sure everyone can enjoy them. Identify and learn about your trees, or plant a new one. Or, of course, call us to take care of your trees for you. March 11th is Johnny Appleseed day!

Born John Chapman in 1774, he discovered a passion for apples and orchards as a young man. He saw apples as a way to provide food and cider for settlers in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, West Virginia, and of course, Ohio. Instead of wandering around scattering seeds, though, he planted orchards on purchased land, or land given to him by the government as people went west.

Did you know there's still one tree he planted that is still alive? It's in Ashland County, Ohio, and is still used to take cuttings from to clone new trees.
