While the studio has become known for our contemporary work, we truly love designing traditional homes. This Shingles style Cape Cod is really taking shape. I love seeing all of the details that were worked on over months come together in the field. Excited to see the progress in the coming months towards completion. When you don’t have a tree on the property for a tree house, you build one. Found these amazing shingles from to create the form of a trunk from the rear. Raw cedar framing creates a carved interior from which a cube volume extends to create space overlooking the yard and adjacent riverfront.

It’s hard to beat hands on construction experience as it relates to design and conveying knowledge on a jobsite. My own attempt at hand mortising a lock set from has given me a true appreciation for what carpenters do on a day to day basis.
