Ok folks heres the scoop, lot of transition in the last 18 months. Too hot, too cold, too tired, too out of shape, currently in transition to a different shop. Dont see anything happening yet this season, hopefully new shop will be up and running this winter. Most likely will not do many baskets anymore, special order only, wells I may keep a couple made up, storage is always an issue because of the bulk etc. The price of timbers has been a real crunch as well. They claimed to be a shortage last 2 years so no one ever had any sales. Becoming medicare eligible has taken its toll on the brain and body, currently in a get healthy once more mode. Porch swings, benches, maybe some planters, we will see what the demand becomes spring of 2019. have some roadside relics still in storage might dust off and do something a little different with. Soooo be blessed as I have been in putting a smile on folks faces over the years, anyone with benches or swings chime in as to how they are holding up weather wise. Would also be interested in how the wooden shake roofs on the wells are doing, They seem to be so green when I buy the lumber that shrinkage has to be a real buggar. Post pics of your goodies, Id lik to see what you all done with them. Mike

This last year has been sort of topsy turvy schedule wise as well as health wise. New things in the wind, hope to put some stuff out this season... gotta find some mo to go with my jo so I can get off my duff and start building...

Well my friends it looks like my page has been intertwined with another craftsman from Oregon but his page is is Mikes wood n things with an apostrophe in his name Mike's but his thread seems to be mingling with mine, may change up the name of my page if so will let you all know, this winter may be rethinking direction as have not been able to do any yard things this season at all. I may combine 2 different lines I have been involved in last few years and hopefully get into an indoor shop this winter to be able to build all winter fro the spring, Im missing all my followers but hopefully a new thing is happening... stay tuned....

Here is our porch swing, I have had many folks say how comfortable the curve is on the seat, hits the legs just right and does NOT cut off circulation if you sit too long. Here is one of many customers that loves to show off her swing.

Greetings, this is Mike of Mikes Wood-n -Things with a schedule update for this season. I am having a hernia surgery Apriol 18th and will be restricted on what I can lift f ro4-6 weeks. I see that as running right up until right before Memorial day weekend. With any luck I will try to come to Cates and build on site a number of pieces for the holiday weekend. I have co builder lined up. We will be building the new mini wells we introduced last year, a downsized basket, new this year, campfire benches, porch swings and patio benches as well as the simple campfire benches. As soon as I can lock in some material costs, i will work on the new price list for this year, stay tuned...

Ok folks in the Montgomery county area, as well as Kingman, Veedersburg, Covington area all areas surrounding Cates where our main sales displays will be, looking for specific interests as I start to build for the spring, look through the pics and let me know what you might want this season. This years primary builds will be the wishing wells, a few baskets, porch swings, porch swing style benches, camp fire benches and new from last season the sandboxes. Il will be watching lumber prices to see what the prices will need be this year. A home builder friend of mine has it on good authority lumber prices are going up about 30% in 2017 so mybe i can get in under the gun, but alas I have seen no deals on Timbers yet, there was a shortage of landscape timbers last year big time causing noooo deals or sales. Best Ive seen this season so far is about $1.75 more expensive per timber than the last season I built. Ill be posting prices shortly. Soon as weather breaks and I can get my build site under roof for the season, Im anxious to bring you some goodies.
