Introduction post! My name is Lana, sole owner/operator of Takes a Village Cleaning (est. 2023)

I originally started this cleaning business with no experience whatsoever other than cleaning my own home (rarely if I’m being honest) but I did really love to clean despite that fact… just who wants to clean up their own mess am I right??

I was just finishing my maternity leave and I needed to find a job with flexible work hours and refused to go back to sitting at a desk. I struggled severely with PPD, loneliness and anxiety and realized the value in the “village” that was commonly spoken of. I also realized just how much one’s mental state takes effect on their environment/home.

I wanted to help others by being their “village” or creating a space of like-minded individuals to be a support group. I started using my own home as an example of a normal lived in space and exposed myself without hesitation. My first videos were only of my own messes and helped many finally feel seen, cared for and not judged. Plus, by making videos I was forcing myself to take action and clean up.

I now have a steady client base whom I appreciate so much and am able to offer free cleanings to those in need on a regular basis to give back to my community.

Not only is my job changing people’s lives, but this online community has helped hold me accountable and motivated to keep improving my own living space and mental state. It’s been nearly 2-years and I’m now off my antidepressants and living life more purposeful, with more energy and motivation than ever before. So thank you. ✨
