FAQ: My A/C isn't cooling, so I walked outside and saw ice on my A/C unit. Is that my problem? If so, is there something I can do before I call my A/C tech.

Yes, most likely the ice is the problem. Icing on your unit is indicative of one of two things:
1. An airflow restriction
2. Low on refrigerant.

The first is the easiest for the homeowner to address. Check your filter. The main culprit of airflow restriction is a clogged air filter. Also, go around you house a check for closed registers (vents). A dirty evaporator coil, loose insulation inside your system or a faulty blower are also common but should be left to a professional.
Second possible problem is low refrigerant. An EPA licensed technician, like Home Heating and AC, is required to check your refrigerant. We would be happy to come out and check it for you.
