A rainy day like today seems like a good time for some social media posts. This project in Loveland is starting to come together.

1. An “uncle fogey” jack pine serves as the center piece of this corner bed. The flax and chocolate flowers are putting on a show.

Things are waking up in the rock garden! This is my personal garden at our home in the Roosevelt National forest near Nederland. We’re at about 8,300 feet. A place I’ve been told my many locals that nothing grows 😉. This garden survives extreme weather, frequent visits from herds of elk, deer moose etc. The award for most annoying pest for sure goes to the pine squirrels and chipmunks. But through it all beauty finds a way to shine. A friendly reminder that when given nothing but a rock and a hard place, Mother Nature will still deliver!

1. Townsendia spp. (look at those lavender beauties)
2. Pediocactus simpsonii
3. Phlox spp.
4. Potentilla
5. Columbine.

I can’t recall the exact species or varieties. Huge shout out to Michael for providing most of these plants!

Diggin the peach tree vibes on this grey morning. Reliance peaches are a great variety for the Colorado front range as they typically flower later than other varieties avoiding damage from those pesky late spring frosts. That does not appear to be the case this year after our wonky winter that wasn’t. What an incredible display of blossoms! While we wouldn’t mind another round of snow (it’s not too late) we sure would like to enjoy this bloomage for a while 😊.

Behold the emerging Foxtail Lilly (eremurus). Sometimes referred to as the desert candle. We planted these last fall and it looks like we’ve got 100% success rate on these bad boys, thanks to for always coming through with quality stock! It may not look like much now, but stay tuned to see these amazing plants at their full blooming glory!
